Simba 2, a Pomeranian, was adopted from the local dog pound on March 1st. He had been found roaming the streets with a leg injury and lots of hair loss. Shortly after the adoption they realized he had some issues that would need work.  He is extremely protective of his family.  He attached himself to the daughters right away (ages 18 mos and 7 yrs) and even went so far as to bite at the parents when they came near the girls.  After speaking with a trainer they used some training methods and he was fine with our family after that.  However, he does not handle new people and children coming into the house to visit and he goes into protection mode.  He also has some food aggression.  The family has finally come to terms with the fact that he needs a new home without children or a lot visitors.

His owner says he truly is a nice dog other than those issues.  He loves to play and cuddle.  He is happiest on a lap being petted. He is good with small dogs and cats but hasn't been around large dogs. Much of his hair has grown back but he still has a few bald spots. He does have BSD as is common for his breed.  He receive 1/2 tablet of 3mg Melatonin nightly. His leg will also never be better.  It is twisted and raised due to a probable ligament injury at some point in his life. It does not seem to hurt him and he does use it when jumping up or squatting to defecate as well as to scratch with so the decision was made not to remove it. He weighs less than 4 lbs and he is neutered, current on all vaccines and heartworm negative. He is house trained and will tell you when he needs to go out but you have to watch for his cues. He is also pee pad trained.
