Annabelle came to us from a difficult situation so she could have a chance at a better life. She is a little darling weighing less than five pounds.  She’s sweet and doesn’t ask for much.  But she does have a few ongoing medical issues that, as long as she gets the daily medications she needs, should not keep her from living a long and comfortable life.

Annabelle has chronic very dry eyes   When she arrived, she had zero tear production and now must be on a daily eye ointment and eye drops from here on out in order to keep her eyes wet and cleansed.  These eye drops can be pricey, but if you are willing to buy a several months supply, there is considerable savings and would cost about $22 per month   The ointment is about $10.

Annabelle also has Diabetes Insipidis, or water diabetes   It’s a somewhat rare in dogs, and it interferes with their ability to concentrate their urine.  Before her diagnosis, her water intake (and output) was off the charts.  Now that we know the cause, we have been treating her with a half of a small pill, twice a day.  The difference has been dramatic and amazing.  She now drinks like a normal dog.  However, she will need to remain on her medication for the rest of her life.  With a reusable coupon that is accepted by many major pharmacies, the cost is $36 a month.

The necessary treatment for Annabelle’s eyes and her diabetes is considerable, so an adopter must be able to commit financially to the ongoing care she will need.

Medical issues aside, this girl is a happy, sweet, and gentle little soul.   We are still working on her housetraining (it was almost impossible to tackle until her diabetes was figured out and treatment started) but she will use pads if not taken outside in time.   She’s fairly low-key, and is content to nap on the couch a good part of the day

Does Annabelle sounds like the girl for you, and are you are able and willing to provide for her ongoing medical needs (at approximately $70 per month)  If so, we would be happy to have you fill out an online application.   She does have a dental scheduled for June 1, so an adopter would either need to be local enough to keep that appointment for her with our vet, or wait until after that procedure before taking her home.

This sweet little girl deserves a forever home but needs a special someone who can make sure she continues to get her eye and diabetes medicine.   You can an adoption application to fill out by clicking here: adoption application
