Mowgli came to us from a small shelter in southeastern Ohio, where he had come from a terrible hoarding environment.  He had been at the shelter for almost a year, and didn’t have much chance of ever getting out because he was completely unsocialized.   We knew we were likely his only chance at any kind of a future, so here he is.  

He was absolutely terrified when he first arrived at his foster home.  He now takes treats from the hand of his foster mom. He is house trained, but needs a small fenced space to go out into. A tie out will not work. Leashes, collars and harnesses are still things that scare him and will need work and patience to help him overcome.

Mowgli is not an adoption candidate for most people. We could use an experienced foster to work with him, to get him to become adoptable. Or even foster to adopt.  If the right person is out there who is willing to take on a long term project, the rewards could be immeasurable.  He does not have a mean bone in his body.  He has never so much as growled once, even when it was necessary to corner him, so we could get a harness or leash on him to get him to the vet.  He is fine with the other dogs in his foster home, even if they try to enter his space or his crate.

This boy has SO much potential!  He also deserves to learn how good life can be.   

Fearful dogs take can a very long time to rehabilitate and some never become the cuddly buddies that other dogs are, but oh, the joy at each little milestone!  Each one is an accomplishment worth celebrating!

Mowgli will need an extra special adopter who is dedicated to guiding on his socialization and training journey with kindness and gentle patience.  He will require someone with experience with unsocilaized dogs, such as mill dogs, feral, or extremely fearful dogs.  If you feel you might be up to the challenge, please
