Hi, I am Beau - because I am a beautiful Standard French Poodle. I know a lot of people will  want me, but I will be a little particular on who I choose. I was returned, because I was too energetic for the couple and their other dog. Poodle understanding would be needed, because we are one of your smartest breeds.  I am almost 5 years old and weigh 45 pounds. I'm playful, loving and very smart! In fact, I'm so smart that when my previous owner's grandchildren visited if any of them were crying or needed help, I alerted my owner right away! I was raised as a companion for an injured person, so I am very much a companion dog. I get along with other dogs, but I'm much more interested in being a member of the human family. Even though I am big, my breed can live up to 15 years, so I will be a long term commitment.....that's a lot of years of taking care of my curly coat!!! I need a fenced-in yard because I love to run and play.  I adore my ball and enjoy playing fetch with it all the time! Sometimes I play rough, but as long as I can run off my excess energy, I am quite the snuggle bug. I give hugs and sometimes I think I'm a lap dog! I am an excellent watch dog. I bark at noises and things moving outside. But, I am too friendly to be a guard dog. My foster mommy is teaching me some manners. I bark at sounds on the tv, but all she has to do is say "enough!", hold up the squirt bottle, and I stop. I was really, really hungry when I cam into rescue, so if you leave food on the counter I just might think it is for me. The place I am living right now has a doggie door. I love it!!! I can go outside to run, play, chase squirrels, and go potty whenever I want. I'm looking for my forever home because my previous owner worked so much, I was sad and lonely. I'll be a perfect addition to a family who is familiar with Standard Poodles so they know how to groom and take care of me!
