Meet Butters! Butters is a 10 year old boy surrendered over to the rescue due to housing issues and severe dental disease. For a long time Butters was suffering from his teeth being so caked with plaque and tartar that his teeth were actually falling out of his mouth, we can only imagine the pain he was in. Now, though, Butters is fully vetted and completely healthy! Butters will need another dental in a few years like any senior cat, but nothing special is required to keep up on him. Butters is a very friendly middle aged man. His favorite thing in the world is long pets from his head to his extra floofy tail, and loves carrying on a conversation with you. Butters is pretty low energy and likes to spend most of his days chilling. He'll maybe curl up on your lap and watch TV with you or sit beside you, whatever he feels most like for the day.

Butters favorite way to spend his evenings is with his human, a laser pointer, and a large pile of catnip! As soon as Butters sees his catnip he runs with excitement and scratches the floor, then rolls around in his nip.

Butters relationship with cats is very tumultuous. He lived with another cat for all of his 10 years and did fine, but this adjustment period has been very hard for him. He's not taking to his foster siblings well, so if you do have another cat and choose to adopt him you need to be committed to a slow introduction and making it work. this process could take anywhere from a week to a few months. If you don't have any cats, it'll be super smooth sailing! One more thing Butters doesn't love is being picked up. He likes to do things on his terms. He receives gentle guidance well and is okay with redirection to get him to do what you want, but he's definitely not a cat you're going to be able to carry around. You probably wouldn't want to carry him around anyway because he is a whopping 13.5 pounds! Yes! Butters is nothing but a big, beefy, lovebug.

If you feel like Butters would be a good match in your home, feel free to submit an application and his foster mom will be in touch!
