Meet Salem!

Salem came to the rescue in pretty bad shape. She weighed about 4 pounds, was missing almost all the hair on her rear end, was urinating blood, was very depressed, and didn't eat for 2 weeks. Salem's background isn't the best and is quite sad. Someone found her and then they kept her in their basement for the next five years. Over those years she had fleas and lost all her hair from it. She also didn't get enough food and that's why she was so emaciated. The depression was obvious and she was urinating the blood from that stress. When her previous owner had a stroke she was surrendered to her daughter, and then surrendered to the rescue.

After about 3 months, she's now a very confident and healthy cat. Salem has gained over 4 pounds, has all of her hair, eats like a madwoman, and loves to play! Salem's favorite thing to do at night is get a little catnip or play with her catnip mouse and then get the zoomies and run everywhere! She loves mice, balls, and especially the laser pointer. She chases it around like crazy and when she's on the hardwood she loves to slide around after it.

Outside of playing, Salem is a very affectionate and loving cat. She will follow you around everywhere you go and surely be your best friend.

Because Salem is such a mild and gentle girl, she can get really scared of other cats. She does great with dogs, but cats often bully her with how passive she is and she gets really worked up. If you have another cat and are interested in adopting Salem, you would have to be committed to doing a proper introduction so they had the best chance of getting along.

Salem would definitely do best in a quiter home. It took about three months to get used to her foster home and become as comfortable and as happy as she is, a lot of ruckus may not be the best for her- especially in the beginning.

If you're interested in adopting Salem submit an application, and if you're a good match her foster mom will be in touch shortly!
