An adoption is currently pending for Ramona.
I am a little Shepherd mix pup with a big personality! I was rescued from the local pound and now am going to let these nice people here find me a great forever home. Like all puppies, I like to play and sleep and play some more! My foster mom thinks I'm a lot ornerier than my brother who is here with me, but I would rather say that I'm just more fun. She named me after the feisty little girl character in the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary. She also says that I am very smart, and thinks I should be easy to house-train.
If you want a precocious little gal to share your life with, fill out an application for me soon! My foster mom also says that I won't last long before getting adopted.
If you are considering adopting one of these puppies, it is recommended that they not go to a home where an owner is at work - or not present - for up to 8 - 9 hours each day. The longest they should be left alone is for 3 or 4 hours at a time during the first month or so after being adopted, and even that is a long time during the first few weeks after being weaned. Besides the fact that their bodies are not developed enough to “hold it” when they are this young, leaving them crated or unattended for hours on end will not offer them the love, attention, socialization, exercise, or training that they will need to become the adult dogs you want them to be for their lifetime - and a good part of your lifetime too.
