Isabelle was surrendered to the pound when her owner became unable to care for her.  Our vet found that she had multiple large bladder stones, and she has since had surgery to remove them.  However, she may need to remain on a prescription diet (she prefers the canned variety) from here on out, otherwise, the stones will likely come back.  She also needs to have the amount of food she gets strictly controlled so she can lose some extra pounds and maintain a healthy weight.  This is especially important for dogs of her breed as obesity can easily cause back trouble for them.

Because of Isabelle's bladder stones and surgery, she is still having occasional accidents.  If watched properly and if let out frequently, she has no trouble.  But it may take a little more time for her to physically heal completely, and perhaps need some extra attention to retrain her.  She was probably sick for quite a while and so she'll need some extra understanding for right now.

She's a delightful girl in every way - happy, content, and affectionate.  She will love to snuggle with you at bedtime, and, like most Dachshunds, will even burrow under the covers if you let her.  Isabelle's fine with other dogs of all sizes and also cats.  She also does well in a crate.

If you wish to adopt Isabelle, you MUST be committed to keeping her on the prescription diet for her bladder health, and also control her food intake.  You will have to be immune to her pleading eyes and begging antics - she undoubtedly shared meals of people food with her previous owner and it has not been good for her health.
