Pixie
We rescued Pixie, now Dixie, in mid-November, and she is such a joy to us. She loves to run and play with all her toys and enjoys her walks. Our thanks to all at Roses Rescue for the fine job that they do.
Parker
I just wanted to share my experience with Rose's Rescue and the AMAZING puppy dog I have in my life thanks to all you wonderful people!!
After being on the street for a number of weeks (maybe even years) Parker was shuffled from shelter to shelter before finding warmth and a roof over his head at his Foster Angel's house, Darlene Donnelly. I first found Parker on Petfinder and contacted Darlene to inquire about him. She offered to have me come meet Parker to decide if we'd be a good fit. I was in Wisconsin and Darlene was in Ohio so it was about an eight hour drive. I also don't have it in me to go look at a dog (especially one that had been through so much trauma like Parker) and decide not to take him.
Darlene had sent me numerous pictures and videos of Parker and we had many conversations about him and his issues. He had really bad allergies as well as being extremely skittish. The veterinarian had put Parker on a high dosage of Prozac since he had issues with tile floors, doorways, water bowls and just about anything and everything imaginable. I was really unsure if I had the time and if I was committed enough to take on a dog with so many issues. After getting more pictures and videos from Darlene, I realized this was going to be a really tough dog to place and that I needed to step up and give him the home he deserved.
I agreed to adopt Parker and Darlene made the trip to my Mom's place in Michigan. When I first saw him, I thought to myself, "what have I gotten myself in to?" He was definitely VERY scared of everything...including his own shadow.
Skip forward 15 months. Parker is completely off the Prozac (that was one thing I weaned him off immediately) and is THEE BEST DOG imaginable. I mean, I really can't put into words how GREAT this dog is. He is goofy, PERFECTLY well-behaved, loves people, loves other dogs and all animals alike, is the BEST traveler, and LOVES life. He has been such a Godsend to me. I am sooooo grateful for this dog I've been blessed with. We do pretty much everything together. We go for at least one long walk everyday and I take him to a different park each time so he doesn't get bored with the same sniffs. He is perfect off leash, doesn't leave my side. But he'll also run and play with other dogs.
I couldn't have ever imagined rescuing such a perfect dog. I thank God for Rose's rescue and what you all do for our amazing animals. Parks has brought more joy to my life that I could have ever fathomed. Thank you for making such a difference in so many peoples lives and so many pets lives. You are all angels!!!!!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Puppy - Ruby
Ruby, now 4½ years, kept her kennel name when we adopted her. She is not often a lap dog. She graduated from Cold Nose Companions School in Chardon. Together we walk 2 miles a day together off leash. She enjoys fetching tennis balls. She shares her home with a cat, Tattoo, also a rescue pet. Tattoo brings her toys downstairs at night to let Ruby enjoy them, as she does, very carefully. At our daughterâs family house ¼ mile away live Rubyâs two âcousinsâ, both English Shepherds.
