Benny
Monty and I are so happy to have Benny in our family. He has adjusted well and seems to be very happy with us too. Benny is very smart and has learned several new tricks. He has been socialized with other neighbor dogs and gets along well with them all so far. There are many children in the neighborhood of all ages and he is friendly with everybody but gets unsure and barks when kids flap their arms and jump around him. He just can't figure out if they are a friend or foe. We are working on reassuring him.
Benny continues to have separation anxiety and has escaped from his crate by springing the latch with his teeth and also by pulling the door inward with brute force. Monty had tried to make modifications to the door with Plexiglass, plastic ties, and duct tape but each time Benny figured out an escape! We had to go to a different crate with a tighter fit and plastic over the grill so he can't get a grip and break his teeth. So far that seems to be working.
Benny continues to need coaching sometimes to go down the steps to do his business but once he knows he is being observed, he travels all over his big yard and sometimes needs to be called back in.
Sincerely,
Jeanie
