Tess is one of the last of Lydia's puppies to find a home. She was born on April 17 and turned six weeks old over Memorial Day weekend. Mama Lydia is a medium sized dog (about 40 lbs) and looks to be mostly black lab possibly mixed with a bit of hound as her ears are pretty long. We have no idea what the Daddy (or Daddies) to this litter was (though Tess was one of the smaller ones in the litter), nor do we know how big they might get when full grown. They will have been wormed and had their first shots at the time of adoption.
If you are considering adopting one of these puppies, it is recommended that they not go to a home where an owner is at work - or not present - for up to 8 - 9 hours each day. The longest they should be left alone is for 3 or 4 hours at a time during the first month or so after being adopted, and even that is a long time during the first few weeks after being weaned. Besides the fact that their bodies are not developed enough to “hold it” when they are this young, leaving them crated or unattended for hours on end will not offer them the love, attention, socialization, exercise, or training that they will need to become the adult dogs you want them to be for their lifetime - and a good part of your lifetime too.
If you think you are ready to take on the comittment of raising and training a puppy, you can easily fill out an adoption application by clicking here: adoption application.
