An adoption is now pending for Betty Lou. Thank you!
Betty Lou is one of Jolen's puppies and was born on May 5. She and her siblings will be ready to go to their forever homes the third weekend in June. Mama Jolene is a beautiful and very sweet Coonhound so we know that much about the puppies' parentage for sure. We have no idea what the Daddy (or Daddies) to this litter was, nor do we know how big they might get when full grown, but we are guessing Australian Shepherd because of some of the puppies coloring, short tails, and potentially longer hair. Catahoula Leopard Dog and Sheltie or Collie, though, would not be out of the realm of possibilty for the father's breed. All puppes will have been wormed and had their first shots at the time of adoption.
Betty Lou is gray/white/black mixed with a short bob-tail. Her foster mom says that she is gorgeous and has a winning personality too!
If you are considering adopting one of these puppies, it is recommended that they not go to a home where an owner is at work for a full day. The longest they should be left alone is for 3 or 4 hours at a time during the first month or so after being adopted, and even that is a long time during the first few weeks after being weaned. Besides the fact that their bodies are not developed enough to “hold it” when they are this young, leaving them crated or unattended for hours on end will not offer them the love, attention, socialization, exercise, or training that they will need to become the adult dogs you want them to be for their lifetime - and a good part of your lifetime too.
If you think you are ready to take on the comittment of raising and training a puppy, you can easily fill out an adoption application by clicking here: adoption application.
